Help prepare food that will become nutritious meals for people in need. Volunteer tasks may include washing, trimming, cutting, dicing, drying, packaging, and organizing food.
Help serve customers, organize items, support the till, clean furniture, move items, or assist with day-to-day store needs.
Help sort, fold, package, lift, and prepare medical supplies and equipment for shipment to communities and facilities in need around the world.

If the role feels right for you, the next step is a meeting. Once everyone is ready to begin, you will receive orientation and training.

We are happy to discuss the days and times you have available.
The minimum shift time is usually 4 hours at the plant or store. Volunteers may also help with special events or special projects.
There are usually Monday through Friday morning shifts at the Lavington plant.
The Vernon store operates Monday to Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Most volunteer roles at Gleaners do not require more experience than preparing vegetables at home or working with customers.
For more specialized roles, such as cashier work or equipment operation, onsite training will be provided.
Absolutely. Volunteers of all ages are welcome.
Daytime shifts are especially popular with retirees and seniors.
Yes. Volunteers are generally asked to be 16 years of age or older.
However, we are happy to speak with groups of young people between the ages of 12 and 16 who can volunteer while accompanied by an adult.
The Gleaners plant and store need volunteers all year long.
We will work with you to accommodate your schedule or travel plans where possible.
The health and safety of our volunteers is very important to us.
Emergency procedures are in place at both facilities. Safety information, orientation, and training are provided before volunteers begin their assignments.
