Dehydrated Soup Mix

Throughout the year we will receive donations of fresh, dried and frozen vegetables - potatoes, beets, oinions, garlic, broccoli, brussel sprouts, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, rutabagas, lentils, peas, beans, etc. - in quantities that range from a few pounds to many thousands of pounds. These come from individuals, farmers large and small, and food processors.

The vegetables are cleaned and cut up by our volunteers. Everything is then chopped into small pieces and spread onto pans before being loaded into the dehydrators.

The following day the dryers are emptied and the now dry soup ingredients are placed in drums, inventoried and stored in our warehouse.

At the end of the year, when we have gathered a good variety of ingredients, our volunteers combine them all into a flavourful soup mix.

Fruit Snacks

Similar to the process for vegetables, apples are diced and then dried (note: we cannot process other fruits). Bagged in 100 cup servings as well, the fruit will provide delicious and nutricious snacks and juice.

Our Food Production

From our 2016 production year, over 5.7 million servings (over 57,000 bags) of soup mix were produced! Bagging took place throughout the winter and applications to receive the soup were invited. Over the next few months, in 2017, shipments were made to El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, North Korea, Tanzania, Ukraine and Zimbabwe.
